The Name & Land
The island of Korodon didn’t always go by this name, its old legacy lost to time. However, the land had always been, and always will be, a farming community, its soil rich and harvests bountiful. It’s one of the few perfect places in Astria to grow grains and raise livestock, which are the island’s two major exports.
The Magic
The first Storm wizard was birthed on this island, whom started out as a humble farm boy that was struck by lightning while he was tending to his family’s fields. For three cycles, the island thought the poor boy to be dead, but on the fourth cycle he miraculously awoke with newfound power.
In reality, as he later revealed in his adult years, he had spent that time talking and training with the Spirit of Shadow alongside six others from all over Astria, each specializing in a different form of magic. Before the boy left the Great Spirit’s plane, He made the boy promise to establish a kingdom for mages with his home island as its nexus.
The Castle
Construction of Korodon’s now famous castle started not long after this boy became an adult, the boy having already talked with all the villages about his plans for establishing the Spirit’s empire years prior. The main entryway, throne room, and most of the first floor, including the kitchen, dining room, guards quarters, servants quarters, and more, were completed by the time the first Storm wizard passed away. He left behind many charts and diagrams for how he wished the castle to be completed, most of which were followed to the letter over the rules of the next five royal families.
Outside Help
Three of the other new wizards came to Korodon during the castle’s construction.
The first Creationist herself helped to build the castle, training others along the way for when she, too, would inevitably Fade and join Korodon’s first king in the White Beyond.
The first Death wizard, a monk from Drukesht, approached the king and offered up his services. Once proving himself to be faithful to the kingdom’s future, the king appointed him as the first royal advisor and High Priest.
The first Life wizard also came to the island, drawn to its agricultural roots. She helped to improve harvests even more, using her magic to strengthen the land and crops, and turned the island into Astria’s largest grain exporter, of which the king leveraged in his trade negotiations with other nations.
The Culture
Korodon is welcome to all beings, especially those with magic in them. While the island’s port city, Ica, is a major melting pot, the rest of the island is overseen by many old and well-established families, the majority of which descend from Korodon’s very first settlers. The farther inland one travels, the more reserved and cautious the towns become around outsiders.
There is a strict status quo with the royal family as well. The royals must be descended from the first Storm wizard and must follow in his way of magic, and the royal advisor must be a Death wizard without care for their lineage.
Since the introduction of magic on Astria, the majority of Korodon’s populous has become either Life or Creation oriented to help streamline the planting, growing, harvesting, and transportation process of farm produce.
There is still a population of Storm and Death wizards as well, who tend to be sailors and priests respectively.
