The Fragment Shadows of Korodon have existed since the beginning of the universe, guiding the first beings of Astria, bringing them morals and principles for them to live by. Over time, the majority of the pantheon have faded into the background, leaving only a handful of Fragment Shadows left in popular memory. Here are a handful of commonly remembered Fragment Shadows of which Astrian society derives their principles and fables from.
The Dragon
The oldest of the Fragments, the Dragon represents overwhelming strength paired with wisdom of the ages. It is a force of nature to be reckoned with; if pleased it will share with one advice and secrets of the universe, and if riled it will swiftly remove one from its sight one way or another. Some also see the Dragon as the teacher of patience in the face of anger and how to stand one’s ground and fight back against something seemingly much bigger and stronger than they are.
The Prophet
The second oldest of the Fragments, the Prophet reads the Fabric of Fate and foretells the future that is yet to unfold. It is often used in many fables to teach the value and pitfalls of both ignorance and knowledge, and also how the future will come to pass when one tries to prevent it.
The Raven
The third oldest of the Fragments, the Raven brings knowledge and insight. It can see through lies and bring forth different perspectives to the nature of beings, the world, conflicts, and policies. The Raven represents broadening one’s perspective and steadfastness in facts, looking past one’s own biases and opinions.
The Twins
This pair of Fragments disagree constantly with one another; what one believes, the other does not, and vice versa. Fables that involve the Twins often center around finding the middle ground between two extremes, along with how to get along with those with differing thoughts and opinions.
The Mage
Wizards are sometimes called mages, which stems from the Fragment Shadow of the Mage. The Mage promotes independence, magical experimentation, and safety with one’s magic. The Mage also advises against the frivolous use of magic for petty reasons. The Mage is commonly known to have worked with the first wizards of Astria in making their initial guiding principles and laws.
The Healer
The Healer has many principles to it, chief among them being helping those that are clearly in need of it. Other common fables about the Healer contain lessons about caring for nature and animals as much as other beings and giving back to one’s community in any way one can.
The Puppeteer
The Puppeteer is a master manipulator, knowing how to string others along with promises and hopes to achieve its own end. The Puppeteer is a domineering figure that hides in the shadows, always hard to spot its string pulling until it’s too late, and brings with it concepts of leveraging the innocent and ignorant for one’s own ends alongside using friends and family to achieve one’s goals. For good or ill is for the individual to interoperate.
The Trickster
The Trickster is a chaotic Fragment Shadow that often impersonates other beings and even other Fragment Shadows to take advantage of those around it, often scamming them for their money or possessions. Fables that involve the Trickster warn those of the dangers of blind trust and to remain vigilant of those that intend to take advantage of one’s own ignorance.
The Judge
The Judge preaches righteous justice to beings of immoral acts and of the importance of following the rule of law. It is objective, fair, and swift with its verdicts and just punishments, as all judges should be.
The Knight
The Knight is the enforcer of law, to act fair and responsibly in the face of criminals and hardships, to keep peace between all beings, and to protect those that cannot protect themselves from harm. Many law enforcement groups, and even the Guardians of Light, have spawned from the Knight’s teachings.
